Holiday Season E-Commerce Up In 2009
Online spending for the 2009 holiday season totaled $29.1 billion in the United States, a 4 percent increase over the same period in 2008, according to a comScore report. Tracked between Nov. 1 and Dec. 31, the season included an online spending total of $913 million on Dec. 15, a record for one-day online spending, eight other days with more than $800 million in spending, and an 11 percent increase in spending on Black Friday (Nov. 27) to $534 million. Lundvall Appointed Blue Note Chairman Emeritus
Blue Note Records has appointed Bruce Lundvall as its new chairman emeritus. Lundvall was president of the label for the past 25 years and in his new role will work in an A&R and product development capacity. Ian Ralfini, former general manager and senior vice president of Manhattan Records, has been named Blue Note Records' new president and will oversee the company's day-to-day operations. Blue Note Records was the honoree at The Recording Academy's GRAMMY Salute To Jazz event in 2009. (1/8)
