Google Purchases Motorola Mobility
Google
has purchased mobile phone maker Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc. for $12.5 billion, marking the search engine's biggest acquisition to date, according to a Billboard.biz report. The acquisition was approved by both companies' board of directors and could be completed as early as the end of this year. Motorola Mobility, which was spun off from parent company Motorola in January, develops smart phones that operate on Google's Android platform. (8/15)
