Following the launch of Google+ earlier this summer, the social media platform is now open to the public after being available by invitation only. Google has added several features since the beta launch, including a search capability that allows users to search through previous posts; Google+ Hangouts, which features video chat capabilities among multiple users on Google Android smart phones equipped with front-facing cameras; and Hangouts On Air, a new feature allowing users to air and view live video broadcasts online. The first Hangouts On Air will reportedly take place tonight featuring will.i.am, according to Billboard.biz. (9/21)

Australian Live Music Biz Worth More Than $1.2 Billion
The Australian live music industry is worth more than $1.2 billion, according to a report issued by the Australasian Performing Right Association titled "The Economic Contribution Of The Venue-Based Live Music Industry In Australia." The figure includes ticket sales and revenue from concessions generated across live music venues for July 1, 2009 – June 30, 2010. According to the report, an estimated 41.97 million visitors attended shows during the period, with rock and pop being the most popular genre, representing 38.5 percent of concert attendance. (9/21)
