Gerardo Ortiz Tops Billboard Mexican Music Awards
Corrido singer Gerardo Ortiz was the top winner at the inaugural Billboard Mexican Music Awards on Oct. 20 in Los Angeles, taking home six awards, including Artist of the Year; Artist of the Year, Male; Artist of the Year, New; and Album of the Year for Ni Hoy Ni Mañana. Additional artists taking home awards were Larry Hernandez, Latin GRAMMY winner Vicente Fernández, Julion Alvarez Y Su Norteño Banda, and Jenni Rivera, among others. Latin GRAMMY-nominated artists Los Tucanes De Tijuana and Paquita La Del Barrio were honored with the Premio Legado Musical and La Voz awards, respectively, and Rivera received the El Premio de La Estrella. The awards will be broadcast on Oct. 27. (10/21)
