Georgia Music Hall Of Fame To Close
The governing board of the Georgia Music Hall of Fame has voted to close the museum's doors on June 12 due to low attendance and budget cuts, and move its collection of memorabilia to the University of Georgia and other state colleges. The museum, located in Macon, Ga., was built by the state in 1996, and the hall's inductees include GRAMMY winners James Brown, Ray Charles, India.Arie, Kenny Rogers, Third Day, Usher, and Trisha Yearwood, among others. Mobile Music Listening Up In 2010
The number of active mobile music listeners increased by approximately 9 million in 2010, according to a NPD Group report. Mobile music listening increased to 17 percent of U.S.-based Web users in 2010, up from a 12 percent increase in 2009. Among mobile music listeners, 56 percent preferred listening to music saved on their phone, 32 percent preferred streaming free Internet radio and 16 percent preferred streaming from paid music services. Listening to music trailed only downloading apps as the most-used utility for Apple and Android smart phones. (5/26)

A2IM Announces New Board Members
The American Association of Independent Music has announced the results of its 2011 Board of Directors elections and the expansion of the current board to 11 seats. The newly elected directors are Priya Dewan, U.S. label manager, Warp Records; Tor Hansen, co-owner, Yep Roc Records; Bruce Iglauer, founder/CEO, Alligator Records; Martin Mills, founder/chairman, Beggars Group; and Victor Zaraya, COO, Razor & Tie Entertainment. The new board's term will begin on July 4 and members will be introduced during A2IM's Indie Week June 21–23 in New York. (5/26)

Kolm To Exit Universal Music Latino/Machete
Walter Kolm
, president of Universal Music Latino and Machete, will exit the label to become the manager for GRAMMY-nominated artist Cristian Castro, according to Billboard.biz. A specific departure date was not revealed, but Kolm may resign as early as this week. According to the report, the position of president will be eliminated with Luis Estrada, the current general manager of Universal Music Latino and Machete, assuming all duties associated with the position.
