Investors have contributed a total of $83.25 million to music startups for the year to date in 2012, down 38.1 percent compared to the $134.4 million contributed at the same point in 2011, according to a Digital Music News report. Social media platform SoundCloud received the highest amount of investor funding among music startups for the year to date with $50 million, followed by online concert community Songkick ($10 million) and online artist activity tracker Next Big Sound ($6.4 million).
