(The Recording Academy asked some of this year's first-time GRAMMY nominees to collect their thoughts and share what it feels like to be nominated for a GRAMMY.)

When we formed this band five years ago, we never thought GRAMMY nominations would be in the cards. We made ends meet playing six-hour cover gigs in cheap Vegas bars, sneaking in our own music whenever we could get away with it.

It's been a whirlwind ever since we released our first full-length [album], Night Visions, and we've basically lived on the road for the last few years. We took our first break in January, so maybe now it will finally sink in that we are taking part in the awards show we've been watching since we were kids.

(Imagine Dragons — comprising Ben McKee (bass), Daniel Platzman (drums), Dan Reynolds (vocals), and Wayne Sermon (guitar) — are nominated for Record Of The Year and Best Rock Performance for the Top 5 hit "Radioactive," which is featured on their 2012 album, Night Visions.)

Tune in to the 56th Annual GRAMMY Awards live from Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, Jan. 26 from 8–11:30 p.m. ET/PT on CBS. Meanwhile, visit The Recording Academy's social networks on FacebookInstagram and Twitter for updates and breaking GRAMMY news.
