Elevation To Acquire Pandora Stake?
Private equity firm Elevation Partners has signed a letter of intent to acquire shares in Internet radio service Pandora at an estimated value of approximately $100 million, according to a TechCrunch report. Neither Pandora nor Elevation Partners provided comments on the deal, according to Billboard.biz. Elevation's investment team includes U2 lead singer Bono. (8/25)
Wyclef Jean Unable To Appeal Haiti Elections Board
As a follow-up to yesterday's report, the ruling by Haiti's elections board that disqualified Wyclef Jean from presidential candidacy is final and cannot be appealed, a council lawyer said Tuesday. Elections board officials maintained that Jean did not meet residency requirements, which require that presidential candidates live in the country for five consecutive years leading up to the election. Africa Music Awards To Take Place In Lagos
The 2010 MTV Africa Music Awards are set to take place Dec. 11 in Lagos, Nigeria, marking the second time the awards have taken place in the nation since the inaugural ceremony was held in Abuja, Nigeria, in 2008. Nominees will be announced in October and this year's awards will feature 12 categories, including Best Male, Best Female, Best Video, Best Group, Artist of the Year, Best Anglophone Act, Song of the Year, Best International Act, and the MAMA Legend award.
