Drake, Rihanna Lead MTV VMA Nods
Nominations for the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards were announced today with GRAMMY-nominated artist Drake and GRAMMY winner Rihanna in the lead with five nominations each, including Video of the Year for "Take Care" and Best Hip-Hop Video and Best Pop Video for "HYFR" and "We Found Love," respectively, among others. Katy Perry followed with four nominations, including Video of the Year for "Wide Awake" and Best Female Video for "Part Of Me." Additional artists garnering multiple nominations include Justin Bieber, Fun., Nicki Minaj, and One Direction, among others. The 2012 MTV VMAs will air live from Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles on Sept. 6. (7/31)

Spotify Reaches 4 Million Paid Subscribers
Streaming music service Spotify announced it has surpassed 4 million paid subscribers. The service gained more than 1 million paid subscribers since January. Overall, Spotify has 15 million total active users, including users of its ad-supported free service. (7/31)
