Nominations for the 2010 BET Hip Hop Awards were announced yesterday with GRAMMY-winning artist Jay-Z receiving a record 10 nominations including Best Live Performer, Lyricist of the Year, MVP of the Year, and CD of the Year for The Blueprint 3, among others. GRAMMY-nominated artist Drake followed with eight nominations including Hustler of the Year, Lyricist of the Year and CD of the Year for Thank Me Later, among others. Also receiving seven nods each were Nicki Minaj and Rick Ross. The awards will take place on Oct. 2 in Atlanta and will be hosted by comedian/actor Mike Epps. (9/10)

HMV Sales Up 105 Percent For Mercury Prize Nominees
UK Entertainment retailer HMV has released figures showing a 105 percent increase in sales for the 12 Barclaycard Mercury Prize nominated albums on Sept. 8, the day after the awards, compared to sales from the prior week. Winners the xx increased sales of their self-titled album by 448 percent, sales of the Villagers' Becoming A Jackal increased 333 percent and the Foals' Total Life Forever was up 225 percent. The results include physical and digital sales. (9/10)

Jackson, Mellencamp Honored At Americana Awards
GRAMMY-nominated artist Wanda Jackson and GRAMMY winner John Mellencamp, along with Brian Ahren, Greg Leisz and Luke Lewis were honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Americana Music Association at the 9th annual Americana Honors & Awards show Sept. 9 in Nashville. Singer/songwriter Ryan Bingham was the only multiple winner, picking up honors for Artist of the Year and Song of the Year for "The Weary Kind (Theme From Crazy Heart)." Also picking up awards were the Avett Brothers, Hayes Carll, GRAMMY winner Rosanne Cash, and GRAMMY nominee Buddy Miller. (9/10)
