BMI Reports Revenue Increase
BMI announced revenue of $917 million for its fiscal year ending June 30, a 1.3 percent increase from the prior fiscal year. During the period, the organization distributed $789 million to its member songwriters, composers and music publisher affiliates. BMI attributed the growth to a $30 million revenue increase from new media, cable, satellite audio, and video programming. In related news, ASCAP named GRAMMY-winning songwriter Brett James as its songwriter of the year at the organization's 48th annual Country Music Awards on Sept. 14 in Nashville. GRAMMY winner Alan Jackson was feted with the ASCAP Founders Award in recognition of his career achievements. (9/17)
