announced record revenue of more than $931 million for its fiscal year ending June 30, a 1.5 percent increase from the prior fiscal year. During the period, the organization distributed $796 million to its member songwriters, composers and music publisher affiliates, up from $789 million the previous year. The company attributes the growth to its blanket license offerings as approximately 100 billion copyright transactions on behalf of its music creators, copyright owners and licensees were completed during 2010. 's GRAMMY-winning The Suburbs was named the winner of the 2011 Polaris Music Prize. The honor recognizes the best Canadian album of the past year across all genres and includes a cash award of $30,000. Other artists nominated for the prize included Austra, Braids, Destroyer, Galaxie, Hey Rosetta!, Ron Sexsmith, Colin Stetson, Timber Timbre, and The Weeknd. (9/20)
