GRAMMY-nominated artist Blake Shelton was the top winner at the 2011 CMT Music Awards Wednesday at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn., garnering awards for Male Video of the Year for "Who Are You When I'm Not Looking" and Best Web Video of the Year for "Kiss My Country A**." GRAMMY winner Taylor Swift took home the top honor, winning Video of the Year for "Mine." Also taking home awards were the Band Perry, Justin Bieber and Rascal Flatts, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Sugarland, and Zac Brown Band and Jimmy Buffet. (6/9)

Hastings Reports Increase In Music Sales
Online entertainment retail store Hastings Entertainment reported a 1.3 percent increase in music sales, with a 4.6 percent increase in new CD sales alone, for the quarter ending April 30. Despite the increase in music sales, revenue dropped from $108.1 million in the prior-year quarter to $104.4 million, operating income decreased from $1.5 million to $1 million and EBITDA declined to from $5.8 million to $5.3 million. According to recent Nielsen SoundScan data, total U.S. album sales are up 1 percent through June 5, while CD sales are down 6.9 percent, a smaller decrease compared to the 22.3 percent deficit at the same time last year.
