Winners of Billboard's first-ever Music App Awards were announced during the Mobile Entertainment Live: The App Summit conference in San Francisco on Oct. 5 where GRAMMY-winning artist T-Pain's I Am T-Pain app by Smule won the Best Artist-Based App award. Additional winners included SoundHound Infinity for Best Music Engagement App, MorphWiz for Best Music Creation App, MOG Mobile for Best Music Streaming App, Live Phish with Best Touring App, and Gibson Learn & Master Guitar for Best Branded App. (10/6)

BMI, BET Award Winners Announced
GRAMMY winner Keith Urban's "Only You Can Love Me This Way," co-written by Steve McEwan and John Reid, was honored with the Robert S. Musel Award for Song of the Year at the BMI London Awards on Oct. 5. Additional winners included GRAMMY-nominated composer/songwriter Don Black, who received the BMI Icon award, and Jay Sean's "Down," co-written by Jared Cotter and Lil Wayne. The awards honor the most performed songs on U.S. radio and television during the past year by European songwriters, composers and publishers. In related awards news, GRAMMY winner Jay-Z and recording artist Nicki Minaj were among the winners at the BET Hip-Hop Awards 2010 on Oct. 2 taking home three awards each, including Jay-Z with the Perfect Combo Award for his collaboration with GRAMMY winner Alicia Keys on "Empire State Of Mind," CD of the Year for The Blueprint 3 and Best Live Performer, and Minaj with Rookie of the Year and the People's Champ and Made-You-Look Awards. Additional winners included producer Swizz Beatz, Sean "P Diddy" Combs, DJ Khaled, and Rick Ross. The show will air on Oct. 12. (10/6)
