Barry Weiss Exits Sony
Following a December 2010 report on the departure of RCA/Jive Label Group Chairman and CEO Barry Weiss, Weiss has reportedly exited Sony Music Entertainment ahead of his April 30 contract expiration date. Weiss is expected to head up East Coast operations for Universal Music Group, but details on when that role would begin were not disclosed. (3/4)

GRAMMY Winners Set To Play Beale Street Fest
A number of GRAMMY winners including Cee Lo Green, John Mellencamp, Jason Mraz, Wilco, Lucinda Williams, and Kirk Whalum are among the artists set to perform at the 2011 Beale Street Music Festival April 29 – May 1 at Tom Lee Park in Memphis, Tenn. Additional artists slated to perform include 53rd Annual GRAMMY Awards performers the Avett Brothers, B.o.B and Mumford & Sons, among others. The festival is part of the Memphis in May International Festival, a monthlong celebration of culture. (3/4)

London To Honor Sondheim, Stewart To Receive ASCAP Award
Seven-time GRAMMY-winning composer/lyricist Stephen Sondheim will be honored with the Special Award in recognition of his contribution to London theater at the Laurence Olivier Awards on March 13. Past recipients include actors Dame Judi Dench and Sir Alec Guinness, theater director Sir Peter Hall and film director Sam Mendes. In related news, GRAMMY winner Rod Stewart will be honored with the ASCAP Founders Award, which recognizes songwriters and composers whose musical legacies have inspired and influenced fellow music creators. Stewart will be honored at ASCAP's 28th Annual Pop Music Awards on April 27 in Los Angeles. Past recipients include Jackson Browne, Elvis Costello, Heart's Ann and Nancy Wilson, Annie Lennox, Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, and Neil Young, among others. (3/4)
