Apollo Theater To Honor James, Richie
GRAMMY winner and Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, the late Etta James, and GRAMMY winner Lionel Richie will be inducted into the Apollo Hall of Fame at the Apollo Spring Gala 2012 on June 4 at the Apollo Theater in New York. Past inductees include GRAMMY winners Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Patti LaBelle, Smokey Robinson, and Stevie Wonder, among others. (3/8)  

ASCAP Revenue Up In 2011
Revenue for performing rights organization ASCAP reached $985 million in 2011, a 5.3 percent increase compared to the previous year, according to Billboard.biz. Collections from overseas totaled $347 million, up from the $50 million reported last year, while operating expenses totaled $117.2 million, down 11.9 percent from last year. Despite the revenue increase, royalties distributed to songwriters reached $825 million, down from the $845 million distributed in 2010 due to timing of payouts, according to ASCAP. (3/8)
