AIM Launches Indie Music Awards
UK trade organization the Association of Independent Music has announced the launch of the first-ever AIM Independent Music Awards. Taking place Nov. 10 in London, the inaugural ceremony will be hosted by Steve Lamacq of BBC Radio 6 Music and Huw Stephens of BBC Radio 1 and feature awards presented in 14 categories, including International Achievement of the Year, Independent Breakthrough of the Year and Indie Champion of the Year, among others, as well as performances by independent artists. Nominations will be announced in October and winners will be determined by a panel of UK music critics and tastemakers, as well as AIM members. (7/5)
