52nd GRAMMY Awards Earn Creative Arts Emmy
The 52nd Annual GRAMMY Awards tied with the 25th Anniversary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Concert to receive the award for Best Sound Mixing for a Music Series or Special at the 2010 Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Aug. 21 in Los Angeles. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame concert also took home awards for Outstanding Picture Editing for a Special (Single or Multi-Camera) and Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video Control for a Miniseries, Movie or Special. GRAMMY winner Randy Newman earned an Emmy for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for "When I'm Gone" from USA's "Monk," and Fox's "Glee" picked up the award for Best Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series for the "Power Of Madonna" episode. The 2010 Creative Arts Emmys will air Aug. 27 on E! Entertainment Television. (8/23)

Trans World Entertainment Posts 2Q Loss
Entertainment retail chain Trans World Entertainment posted a $15.8 million net loss on $135.8 million in sales for the fiscal second quarter ending July 31, down slightly from the $17.8 million loss on $165.7 million in sales during the corresponding period last year. The company attributes the 18 percent drop in sales to the 163 store closures since the same period last year. Music comparable-store sales were down 3 percent for the quarter and video sales posted a 2 percent comparable-store increase, with the portable electronics category generating a 3 percent increase for the quarter.
