It didn't take long for Chris Brown's soulful voice and show-stopping dance moves to make him a sensation. At 15 the Tappahannock, Va., native signed with Jive Records and teamed with hit makers such as Bryan-Michael Cox, Jermaine Dupri and Scott Storch to create a pop-infused R&B sound that would ultimately take him to the top of the charts. In 2005 Brown's first single, "Run It!," topped the Billboard Hot 100, making him the first male solo artist in more than 10 years to top the chart with a debut single. Later that year, "Run It!" and the top 10 hits "Yo (Excuse Me Miss)" and "Say Goodbye" propelled Brown's self-titled debut album to No. 2 on the Billboard 200, and led to his first two GRAMMY nominations for Best Contemporary R&B Album and Best New Artist.

Brown followed with 2007's Exclusive and 2009's Graffiti, which peaked at No. 4 and No. 7, respectively. In 2011 Brown garnered his first No. 1 album and GRAMMY Award for Best R&B Album for F.A.M.E. The album saw Brown fuse R&B and hip-hop on tracks such as the GRAMMY-nominated "Deuces" and "Look At Me Now." Brown's 2012 release, Fortune, became his second No. 1 album and earned a GRAMMY nomination for Best Urban Contemporary R&B Album at the 55th GRAMMY Awards.
