The Foundation offers programs and activities that engage the music industry and cultural community as well as the general public, and works in partnership year-round with The Recording Academy to bring national attention to important issues such as the value and impact of music and arts education and the urgency of preserving our rich cultural heritage. The Nashville Chapter received its charter from the Recording Academy in 1964. Today, the Chapter has grown to include more than 2,600 members. In 1997, the Chapter moved into a beautiful 5,000-square foot refurbished home adjacent to Music Row, the first property to be purchased by the Recording Academy outside of the national office in Santa Monica.

New home of the Nashville Chapter of the Recording Academy.

Already known for its continuing professional education and industry networking efforts, the Nashville Chapter produces an expansive program of professional services to meet the needs of the local music community. These range from professional education panels featuring top level music industry experts, to GRAMMY night viewing parties to the Chapter's annual Block Party and Member Fair.

The Recording Academy Mentor Program is another ongoing program that exists to promote and assist a new generation of recording industry leaders through a structured relationship between a newcomer and a veteran in the field. The one-on-one structured relationship serves as a professional development resource to the "apprentice" and provides a service opportunity for the "mentor."

Involvement in advancing music and arts-based education programs is also very important to the Nashville Chapter. Through work with the GRAMMY Foundation, the Nashville Chapter presents GRAMMY Career Day each year as well as other local outreach programs that focus on all levels and aspects of music education. The Chapter also awards scholarship money to college students in the music industry programs at Middle Tennessee State University and Belmont University.
