Are you a leader in our local music community? Are you committed to the professional and educational goals of The Recording Academy? Are you interested in serving the music community along with a dynamic group of other Academy leaders? If this describes you, we urge you to submit an application to be considered as a PNW Chapter Governor.
In recruiting applicants for nomination by the Chapter's Nominating Committee, the PNW Chapter is committed to achieving diversity of genre, gender, age and ethnicity.
What are the responsibilities? Simply put, Recording Academy Governors chart the course for their Chapters. Additional responsibilities include attendance at monthly board meetings, committee service and membership outreach. Governors serve two-year terms and may run for re-election once before having to step down for one year.
What is the process for getting on the ballot? The Nominating Committee will select two candidates from each membership category and candidates from voting and associate categories to run "at-large." The Nominating Committee — comprised of current PNW Chapter Governors, Officers and Trustees — has the sole discretion in the selection of candidates.
Entry Process: To submit yourself for consideration to the PNW Chapter Board, click here to download the Governor Candidate Form.
All forms should be completed and submitted via e-mail to michaels@grammy.com by Feb. 9.
Keep in mind that submitting your form to the Chapter does not guarantee that you will be included on our ballot. The Nominating Committee reviews all applications and collectively decides on the best candidates to present to the membership.
The Pacific Northwest Chapter is excited to welcome new Chapter Assistant Court Scott and GRAMMY U Representative Susan Galbraith.
A native of Seattle, Scott developed a relationship with music first as a fan touring with several bands and later as an editorial contributor to a number of music-related Web sites. In 2007 Scott returned to the Pacific Northwest after two years in Los Angeles earning her master's degree in communication management in entertainment at USC's Annenberg School for Communication. There she examined cultural industries and specifically attitudes towards sponsorship in live music events. Before joining The Recording Academy, Scott worked with HeadCount.org, a nonprofit that teams up with artists to inspire civic engagement among young voters.
A recent graduate of Washington State University, Galbraith has a background in music performance as a vocalist. She comes to The Academy from working in promotions for local radio stations and will be working hard to grow the GRAMMY U membership while helping to offer exciting new events and programs.
The Pacific Northwest Chapter proudly announces the election of our new Trustee Nancy Rumbel. Rumbel was a founding PNW Chapter Governor and has served on the Board in various capacities since.
Additionally, Chapter President Steve Mack, Vice President Sue Ennis and Chapter Secretary Jane Peck were all elected to second terms in their respective offices.
