GRAMMY U: I Just Graduated...Hire Me! Grammy.com Image
April 21, 2009
In today's economy, it is said that only 20-25 percent of graduates will be able to find a job directly out of college. This statistic didn't hamper the spirits of students from Belmont University, Middle Tennessee State University, Tennessee State University, and Vanderbilt University at the GRAMMY U: I Just Graduated...Hire Me! panel.

Please check back for upcoming Chapter events as they are announced.

2009 Nashville Chapter Board Elections: Chapter Members Only
Are you a leader in our local music community? Are you committed to the professional and educational goals of The Recording Academy? Are you interested in serving the music community along with a dynamic group of other Academy leaders? If this describes you, we urge you to submit an application to be considered as a Nashville Chapter Governor.

In recruiting applicants for nomination by the Chapter's Nominating Committee, the Nashville Chapter is committed to achieving diversity of genre, gender, age, and ethnicity.

What are the responsibilities? Simply put, The Recording Academy Governors chart the course for their Chapters. Additional responsibilities include attendance at monthly Board meetings, committee service and membership outreach. Governors serve two-year terms and may run for re-election once before having to step down for one year.

What is the process for getting on the ballot? The Nominating Committee will select two candidates from each membership category and candidates from voting and associate categories to run "at-large." The Nominating Committee — comprised of current Nashville Chapter Governors, Officers and Trustees — has the sole discretion in the selection of candidates.

Entry Process: To submit yourself for consideration to the Nashville Chapter Board, click here to download a Governor Candidate Form.

All forms should be completed and submitted via e-mail to Ashely Lamb Ernst at ashley.ernst@grammy.com by Jan. 23.

Keep in mind that submitting your form to the Chapter does not guarantee that you will be included on our ballot. The Nominating Committee reviews all applications and collectively decides on the best candidates to present to the membership.

The Nashville Chapter received its charter from the Recording Academy in 1964. Today, the Chapter has grown to include more than 2,600 members. In 1997, the Chapter moved into a beautiful 5,000-square foot refurbished home adjacent to Music Row, the first property to be purchased by the Recording Academy outside of the national office in Santa Monica.

New home of the Nashville Chapter of the Recording Academy.

Already known for its continuing professional education and industry networking efforts, the Nashville Chapter produces an expansive program of professional services to meet the needs of the local music community. These range from professional education panels featuring top level music industry experts, to GRAMMY night viewing parties to the Chapter's annual Block Party and Member Fair.

The Recording Academy Mentor Program is another ongoing program that exists to promote and assist a new generation of recording industry leaders through a structured relationship between a newcomer and a veteran in the field. The one-on-one structured relationship serves as a professional development resource to the "apprentice" and provides a service opportunity for the "mentor."

Involvement in advancing music and arts-based education programs is also very important to the Nashville Chapter. Through work with the GRAMMY Foundation, the Nashville Chapter presents GRAMMY Career Day each year as well as other local outreach programs that focus on all levels and aspects of music education. The Chapter also awards scholarship money to college students in the music industry programs at Middle Tennessee State University and Belmont University.
